We have six teachers, who will teach groups of five students at a time. There are three teaching sessions, so each student will spend time with three out of six teachers.

They are:

The tournament will be three rounds, with each player getting 40 minutes, and no overtime. For those who care passionately about their grade this means that it is a class C tournament and will count towards European rating points. Games will be played with handicaps if appropriate, with handicap equal to grade difference, and will use the standard BGA rules.

There will be prizes for all who win three games and for the weaker players winning two. The handicapping system means that everyone has a chance of winning something.

Getting there

The Quaker meeting house is about fifteen minutes walk from East Croydon station or a ten minute bus trip from West Croydon (see the TfL journeyplanner for details).

If you will be coming by car please contact the organisers first as there is limited parking space on-site. Most of the surrounding roads also have parking restrictions. The entrance to the meeting house's car park is only accessible from the south. If you are coming from the north, we recommend turning left up Beech House Road when you are opposite the meeting house, then right three times to go round in a circle facing the right way to get into the car park.

Lunch and refreshments

The venue is just five minutes walk from the High Street and town centre and there are bazillions of cafes, sandwich shops and their ilk. However, because time is tight you might prefer to bring something with you. Tea and coffee will be provided.

No alcohol or smoking is allowed on the premises. This includes the car park. If you want to smoke you'll need to go out on the street and get rained on. And you will get rained on. It's December.
